Cross Country Teams Looking For More Success

Becker boys and girls cross country has had an amazing start to their season.

The Head Coach for the girls this year is Trish Kealy, who is joined by Assistant Coach Bonnie Kolbinger, who is enthusiastic about helping out this year!

Team captains this year are Allison Hendrickson, 12th grade, Jessica Sand, 12th grade, and Kayden Westin, 12th grade.  They have stated that they are excited for this season this year, they have a great team and have been part of cross country for several years.

Joining them are 27 other enthusiastic girls ready to run.  Among them returning veterans, who are already looking forward to another year of racing, and an enthusiastic younger group, who are ready to race their hearts out.

Last year Becker girls cross country had two people go to state: Allison H. and Lexi D.  Both girls have worked hard and are ready to race for the chance to go to state again.

Another girl to keep watch on is Victoria K. She almost went to state last year and just missed it.  During her track season she performed amazingly.  Victoria is ready to race for a spot at state this year.

The Becker Girls team has won conference four times in a row and looks to accomplish this again this year.  The biggest competitors for the girls this year are Monticello, who is in their sections, and Albany, who is in their conference.

The Becker girls Cross Country team looks forward to another great season.  Their coach has stated that this team is a great emotional team, who support each other.  They look forward to having fun this season no matter what happens.

The Becker boys cross country head coach this year is Dustin Weege and is helped by Assistant Coach Patrick Drury.

The team captains this year are Luke Pappenfus, 12th grade, Justin Kringler, 12th grade, and Jonathan Novak, 12th grade.  All three of them are pumped for this year to start and are ready to improve through their own personal records.

Joining them are 32 other boys who are fired up and ready to go.  As for the varsity team, all the members are returning this year which is very unique, so keep watch on the team this year.

A particular member to watch for is Samuel Ricker, 11th grade.  He is in both football and cross country this year, so we will be seeing much of him.  He also was the top American in the three events that he had competed in Australia.  So keep lookout for him.

This year the boys are predicted to experience their highest conference program in history this year! This means they plan on moving up in conference and in sections.

Their biggest competitors this year are Mora, Cathedral, and Little Falls.  Mora was the state champion last year, Cathedral was the conference runner-up last year and Little Falls has been a really good team.

This year something new is happening with the cross country teams.  This year the cross country team has split into two!  The boys and the girls.  This decided by administration, since both genders have enough people for separate teams.

The teams are both excited and would love your support!  The captains on both teams agree that these teams are going to be making huge progress this year, so stay tuned!
