Eagle Trace Golf Course in Clearwater was once again the scene of the Cougar Golf Classic Wednesday, the annual event to raise money for technology at Clearview.
Tee-time was 11 a.m. with 41 golfers heading out onto the course. Thirty-six of the golfers also paid to take part in the 21 games that were at each hole.
Along with the hole prizes there were also team prizes, and golfers could purchase raffle tickets for another chance to win.
“I take part in the Cougar Golf Classic to support the school in getting technology,” said golfer John Peterson, who was participating for the sixth year. “And my wife is a teacher at Clearview.”
The event takes a lot of planning and volunteer work, which is headed up by Shannon Essler-Petty.
“I love taking an active part in my children’s education,” said Essler-Petty. “I feel as though it is my role as a parent to make time to contribute to my children’s school.”
The event was once again a huge success, with around $9,000 raised. The money will be used for technology at Clearview, including Promethium Boards (smart boards) and Google Chrome Books for the classrooms.
“I am always impressed by the local businesses from the area who are willing to contribute whether it be with a large financial donation or by donating a small prize,” said Essler-Petty. “All of these businesses together, along with the golfers and volunteers, make this an enjoyable and beneficial fundraiser.”
