BECKER AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Office Manager Lynette Brannan said she was very pleased with how the Chamber Golf Mixer progressed as 48 players competed in a 9-hole scramble last Thursday.

Chamber Touts A Successful Golf Mixer

“The weather was ideal and the course was in great shape,” said Becker Chamber of Commerce Chair Lynette Brannan. “The staff did a wonderful job and everything worked out really well.”
 
Forty-eight players took the afternoon off last Thursday to participate in the annual Becker Chamber of Commerce Golf Mixer at Pebble Creek.
 
“The day was great and registration went very well,” Brannan said. 
 
Chamber Office Manager Lynette Brannan chaired the event that featured teams from Liberty Paper, Better Homes & Gardens (BHG) Real Estate, Friends of the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge (FSNWR), Xcel Energy (Sherco), Huse Orthodontics, Sherburne State Bank, Becker Furniture World, Country Lumber, Wruck Excavating, TJ Potter Trucking and Russell’s on the Lake.
 
The foursome of Darek Vetsch, Dean Carson, Colton Jones and Wayne Jones of Russell’s on the Lake outshot the other teams and finished the nine hole tournament with a -6 score. 
 
The tournament was played on the Local 9 side of Pebble Creek and featured a putting contest, scratch cards, longest drive and a  hole-in-one challenge. A raffle and door prize  was held following the event upstairs in the banquet room where players and guests enjoyed a prime rib or spicy chicken breast dinner served with salads, rolls, beans and finger desserts (chocolates, cakes, etc.) catered by Russell’s on the Lake.
 
Donations to the door prizes came from Carol VanHeel, Xcel Energy, Sherburne State Bank, Better Homes & Gardens, Huse Orthodontics, Grand Casino, Country Lumber, TJ Potter Trucking, Majestic Creations/CNC, Russell’s on the Lake, ACE Solid Waste, CentraCare Monticello and Mary Kay - Audrey Orton.
 
Co-sponsors of the event were Liberty Paper and the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwa. Hole sponsors were CentraCare Monticello, Connexus, TJ Potter Trucking, Citizen Newspaper, Xcel Energy and Anytime Fitness.
 
The putting contest was sponsored by American Family Insurance - Amy Chmielewski. Water was provided by Country Lumber. Golf Carts provided by Becker Furniture World. Scratch Cards came from Angell’s Construction (dba D&V Enterprise) and the hole-in-one contest was sponsored by Sherburne State Bank.
 
The winner of the longest drive on Hole #5 for the women was Carol VanHeel. She won a Target Gift Card.
 
The winner of the longest drive on Hole #9 for the men was Peter Gilbertson who won a Runnings Gift Card.
 
The threesome of Gilbertson, Candice Wampach and Kyle Brannan — playing for Sherburne State Bank — took home second place with a -5 score. The TJ Potter Trucking team — consisting of Derek Potter, Shane Potter, Kyle Potter and Aaron Buesgens — also finished at -5 to take home third place.
 
“I’d like to express a huge thank you to all the people and businesses who helped make this tournament happen and we’re already looking forward to next year,” said Brannan.
