The Becker CC team ran in the Buffalo Invitational Thursday on a beautiful, warm afternoon.
“It was an absolutely beautiful day, if a little warm for running,” said Head Coach Trish Reimer-Kealy. “This is a tough course with a long hill that has to be run on each loop of the course.”
Varsity Boys
Luke Lahr ran a great race for the boys, keeping up with some excellent runners and placing fourth in the boys 5K race. His time was 16:55.64 which was almost 30 seconds faster than he ran this course last year.
Caleb Foster and Jonathan Novak were again Becker’s number two and three runners, placing 36th (18:49.72) and 39th (18:56.08).
The other varsity boys continue to shuffle places with Olsen Pancoast racing hard in this meet and placing 52nd (19:41.89) along with Keith Sorensen, who continues to mature as a runner, placing 56th (20:06.83). Dylan Gruba showed some determination in running while feeling ill but put in a solid effort all the same finishing strong in 57th place (20:10.68). Sam Somrock returned to the varsity line up this week and placed 63rd (20:47.2).

Varsity Girls
The Becker varsity girls continue to gel as a team and placed fifth out of 13 teams.
The girls races hit a bit of a snag when a stray golf cart ended up misleading the runners and they ran a shortened course due to the mix up. Thus the times will have to be adjusted at a later time when it is figured out how much was cut off the course.
There were 85 total runners.
Alli Hendrickson earned a medal for 12th place (15:29.39). Lexi Dehmer placed 18th (16:00.0) and Sydney Mastey 30th (16:22.51).
Running in her first varsity race was seventh grader Makenna Noaiell and she was Becker's fourth finisher in 42nd place (16:47.95), just ahead of Tate Spinner in 44th (16:59.20). Ellie Schwartz returned to varsity and placed 54th (17:12.83) and Jada Rositas was 66th (17:53.61).
“The girls are jelling well as a team and are working together nicely,” said the head coach.
