Bulldogs tame Wildcats, 54-0

The Becker Bulldog football team — behind four TDs from the Kujawa brothers — finished  the regular season strong with a destruction of the Chisago Lakes Wildcats by a score of 54-0 last Wednesday evening.

The Bulldogs amassed 494 yards — balanced well with 232 yards from their passing game and 262 from their running game. The defense stifled Chisago Lakes and limited them to just 92 yards total for the game.

The Bulldogs scored twice in the first quarter with both TDs coming from Landen Kujawa — the first from nine yards out and the second from eight yards out.

In the second, Becker poured it on when Isaac Daluge broke free and scampered 44 yards for the third score of the game. Moments later, QB Sawyer Brown hoofed it 10 yards to pay dirt to put the Dogs up 26-0 midway through the second quarter.

Later in the first half, Kujawa scored his third TD, this time from three yards out to put the game securely out of reach at 33-0 with two quarters left to play.

In the third, Carter Reckelberg and QB Tristan Kowalkowski delighted the crowd when they hooked up on an 88-yard TD score to put the home team up 40-0.

By then, Head Coach Dwight Lundeen started substituting the starters with the second string players and the subs kept the play hot as Bennett Kujawa rambled in from 10 yards out to make it 47-0 and a little while later, Nolan Jurek escaped the line and scored from 25 yards out to complete the scoring.

Kowalkowski finished nine-of-13 for 224 yards and a touchdown. Brown was one-of-one for eight yards and had the one rushing TD.

Landen Kujawa finished with 70 yards rushing  on 12 carries and three TDs. Daluge had one TD on four rushed for 68 yards.

Mitchell Soltau had three catches for 34 yards and Reckelberg had the one catch for 88 yards and a TD.

On defense, Landen Kujawa had 12 tackles and four assists with two tackles for loss. Kaden Nicolas had three tackles and two assists. He also recovered a fumble as did Sawyer Brown.

Becker finished the game with 21 first downs compared to Chisago Lakes’ five.

Brown led the Bulldogs in passing yards with 662 and he led the team in interceptions with two. Landen Kujawa was the team’s top runner, amassing 514 yards. He was also the team’s leading tackler with 79 total tackles.
