The Becker boys baseball team split two games this week to move their season record to 4-3.
Becker 4, Milaca 0
The Bulldogs defeated Milaca 4-0 Tuesday at home as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Andrew Kolbinger induced a groundout from Jake Mach to finish off the game.
Zack Wenner earned the win for Becker. He allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Kolbinger threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Kolbinger recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Becker.
Tyler Thebiay took the loss for Milaca. He allowed six hits and three runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four.
The Bulldogs racked up nine hits on the day. Jackson Thorn (3-for-4) and Noah Mohs had multiple hits for Becker. The Bulldogs were sure-handed in the field, not committing a single error. Mohs had the most chances in the field with nine.
Milaca had two errors in the contest.
Mora 11, Becker 8
The Bulldogs lost to Mora Thursday on the road despite out-hitting them nine to six.
Becker put up four runs in the sixth inning to bring the game within one run, however Mora responded with two more in the bottom of the inning to seal the win. Becker batters contributing to the big inning in the sixth included Dawson Hill, James Schafer, and Dalton Fouquette, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Caleb Koch led Mora to victory on the hill. He went three innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out four. Ben Wright, Lucas Athey, and Drew Elvehjem all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Athey recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Mora.
Cameron Fischer took the loss for Becker. He allowed five hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out three.
Schafer and Hill each had multiple hits for Becker, each collecting two hits.
Koch went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mora in hits. Mora stole six bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Koch led the way with two.
