Bulldogs nipped by Spartans at true team

It couldn’t have been any closer for the Becker boys track team, as they were narrowly edged for the Section 5AA True Team title last week by the Rocori Spartans, 646 to 637.

“It came right down to the last event as both us and Rocori went into the final event tied 607 to 607,” Coach Paul Schmidt said.   “Rocori ended up winning the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:35 and we ended up fourth with a time of 3:36.”

Becker then still had a chance to go to the True Team meet in Stillwater,  but came up short in the wildcard computer run meet ending up in seventh place.

“As this meet really focuses on the team aspect of track and field, there were some really good performances,” Schmidt said.

Carter Reckelberg  broke his own Triple Jump School Record with a jump of 44’ 9.25”, while he also won the 100, 200 and the Long Jump.

Owen Angell won the Pole Vault, 110 Hurdles, 300 hurdles, and was second in the high Jump.

The 4x800 team of Tanner Felton, Evan Hubbard, Hudson St. Denis and Brandt Hemmelgarn ran their best time of 8:29.74.

As a team there were many other solid performances as Becker was able to place two kids in each event,” Schmidt added.

Becker is ramping up for the Section meet to be held this week.
