Albany 9, Becker 7

In game two, the game was cut short (five innings) because of weather conditions, which was too bad for Becker as they lost by two runs.

Becker started off game with two runs in the first inning. Stanger led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Zach Zimmer.

Stanger scored on a hit by Cody Gruenhagen and Vesledahl delivered a hit to score Gruenhagen.

Albany tacked on five more runs in the third inning making the score 8-2.

The Bulldogs showed no signs of quitting as they returned the favor, scoring five runs in the fourth. But with the game cancelled after five, the Bulldogs were unable to complete their inspired comeback.

Becker 7, Mora 5

In their third game in two days, Becker traveled to windy and cool Mora Tuesday and came home with a two-run victory. The Bulldogs jumped out in front in the first inning with three runs when  Stanger got aboard with a solid base hit, then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Zimmer and scored on a hit by Brandon Croatt. Vesledahl followed with a walk and both he and Croatt scored on a double by Robbie Benson.

Becker scored a lone run in the third inning when  Stanger gained first on a walk, stole second and scored on a Gruenhagen single.

Mora came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning on one hit, and four walks.

In the fifth, Stanger led off with a hit and moved to second on a hit by Zimmer. Stanger eventually scored on a hit by Gruenhagen that in turn moved Zimmer to third. Both runners scored on a hit by Croatt.

Stanger toed the rubber and held Mora to zero runs the final two innings for the win.

Leading the Bulldogs’ 11-hit attack was Croatt, who was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in. Stanger reached base four times,  going 2-for-2 with two base on balls and three runs scored. Benson was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
