The Becker Bulldog boys golf team competed in the Detroit Lakes East/West Classic last weekend and finished in sixth place.
The team played really well on day one, shooting a season low 315 on Longbow Golf Course. Jackson Fluck had a 76, Michael Sogard a 77, Caleb Foster a 79 and Brandon Abrahamson an 83.
We finished the first day in a tie for fourth.
Day two started off a bit rough on the front nine for the ‘Dawgs. Sogard came in at 38, Alex Stanz had a 40, Fluck a 41, and Adam Schug a 45. head Coach Dan Olson said his kids were playing much better on their in-bound nine, however, Mother Nature stepped in and the second day was cut short due to severe thunder storms and lightning. The stoppage resulted in the Bulldogs finishing in sixth place with a team score of 479.
“(I was) very pleased with the way the kids played this weekend,” said Olson.
Sogard finished as the top “Dawg with a 115. Fluck finished at 117, Foster at 125, Stanz at 126, Schug at 126 and Abrahamson had to withdraw after the first day.
The tournament was won by Fargo Shanley’s Lucas Johnson who tallied a 109.
The Bulldogs have two weeks off until they play one final invite at Blackberry Ridge May 30 before section play begins June 1-2 at the same location.
