Bulldogs continue impressive roll, slash Spartans, 30-14

Senior WR Mitchell Soltau scored three times and the Becker Bulldog football team improved to 6-0 with a road whipping of Rocori, 30-14.

The Bulldogs used a balanced attack to bring down the Rocori Spartans (4-2), a team Becker has lost to in the section football championships the last two years.

With two games left in the Minnesota high school football regular season, Becker (6-0) preserved its undefeated record and status as one of the top teams in Class 4A.

Senior RB Isaac Daluge scored Becker’s first touchdown on a 29-yard rush less than three minutes into the game. From there, Soltau scored three straight times after Rocori scored after Daluge’s TD.

Becker’s defense, led by Landen Kujawa with 12 tackles, stymied the Spartans all night on the ground and through the air. Nathan Weiss also had nine tackles while Sawyer Brown had one interception late.

On Solatau’s first score, Brown found him from 31-yards  out to put Becker up 14-6 at the end of the first quarter. The only score in the second quarter was a 63-yard TD from T. Kowalkowski to Soltau to make the score 20-6 heading into the locker room.

Soltau completed the pure hat trick when he scored from nine yards out from Brown to put the visiting team up 27-6.

A five-yard TD score by Rocori’s Dylan Thompson cut the lead to 27-14, but Evan Norbergsealed the deal with a 25-yard FG late in the game.

The Bulldogs finished with 350 yards total — 181 passing and 169 rushing. Rocori had 265 total yards — 91 passing and  174 rushing.

Brown finished six-of-seven passing for 81 yards and two scores while Kowalkowski was three-of-five for 100 yards and one score.

Daluge had 11 carries for 58 yards and one TD score. Kujawa had 15 carries for 55 yards.

Soltau led all recievers on both sides with seven receptions for 156 yards and three scores.
