Last Thursday, the Bulldog wrestling team traveled to Princeton for a triangular meet and came away with a pair of wins, while Saturday the team finished second in a tournament held in Delano.
In the opening match in Princeton, the Bulldogs defeated the host Tigers, 44-19.
Becker was aided in the victory by a pair of forfeits in the lower weights, as Nolan Jurek (113) and Kaden Nicolas (120) picked up wins before Landen Kujawa beat the buzzer to score a fall in the final second of his match at 126 for a Becker 18-3 lead.
The Tigers then came back with three straight wins to pull to within 18-16 before Ethan Anderson took a decision at 152 pounds to give Becker another advantage.
From there, Adam Jurek (170) scored a major decision and Tyson Ricker (182) picked up a decision to push the Becker lead to 34-16. Also picking up wins for the Bulldogs were Dylan Kolby (major decision at 220) and Bryce Kuschel (forfeit at 285).
In the second match of the night, it was all Becker, as the Bulldogs ripped off 12 wins in the 14 matches to paste the Milaca Wolves, 59-9.
Winners for the Bulldogs included: Bennett Kujawa (106), Jurek (113), Nicolas (120), Landen Kujawa (126), Drew May (132), Ethan Duncombe (145), Owen Angell (152), Mason Doucette (160), Adam Jurek (170), Ricker (182), Joe Goth (195), and Kolby (220).
Last Saturday, the Bulldogs participated in the Delano Tiger Invitational and came away with a second place finish overall, scoring 191.5 team points, compared to the winning team from Watertown-Mayer-Mayer Lutheran, who scored 211.5.
A total of nine teams competed on the day, including the host Tigers, Rogers and St. Peter to name a few.
Team points were awarded for the top six places, while two Bulldogs picked up individual championships at their weight classes. Freshman Kaden Nicolas won the 120 pound bracket with a 9-7 decision over Senior Max Ricks from Rogers, while Dylan Kolby placed first at 220 pounds with a fall in the first period over his opponent.
Placing second for Becker were Landen Kujawa (126), Angell (145), Doucette (160), Dylan Weber (195) and Bryce Kuschel (285).
Other top Bulldog finishes came from May (fourth at 132), Ryan Boecker (fifth at 138), Anderson (fifth at 152), Jurek (fourth at 170) Ricker (third at 182), and Goth (fourth at 182).
