Last Thursday, the Becker Bulldog wrestling team picked up another M8 Conference win by defeating North Branch, 64-12, and followed that up Friday evening with three wins in a dual meet event.
North Branch
Becker won nine of 12 individual matches en route to the victory over the Vikings.
Bennett Kujawa started things off with a major decision at 106 pounds, followed by a North Branch win at 113. Kaden Nicolas helped the Bulldogs secure the lead for good with his first period pin at 120 pounds, followed by three straight forfeit wins for the Bulldogs: Landen Kujawa (126), Drew May (132) and Ryan Boecker (138).
At 145, Bulldog Ethan Anderson scored a fall at the 1:13 mark of his match, and Owen Angell picked up another forfeit win at 152. In the upper weights, Becker outmanned the Vikings 4-0 behind pins from Tyson Ricker (182) and Bryce Kuschel (285). Dylan Weber (195) and Joe Goth (220) picked up forfeits for the Bulldogs.
Dual Event
In the three matches of the dual event at Gelcoe-Lester Prairie, Becker went 3-0 and started out by winning the opening match over the hosts, 55-12.
Winning matches for the Bulldogs were: Kujawa (106 - fall), Nicolas (120 - fall), Kujawa (126 - fall), May (132 - fall), Angell (145 - fall), Anderson (152 - maj. dec.), Adam Jurek (170 OT dec.), Ricker (182 - dec.), Weber (195 - dec.), Kuschel (285 - forfeit).
In the second dual, Becker was again the superior team, defeating the Annandale-Maple Lake Lightning, 52-15.
Becker winners included: Kujawa (106 -dec.), Kujawa (126 - tech. Fall), Ethan Duncombe (138 - fall), Anderson (145 - fall), Angell (152 - fall), Mason Doucette (160 - maj. dec.), Jurek (170 - maj. dec.), Ricker (182 - dec.), Weber (195 - fall), Goth (220 - dec.), Kuschel (285 - fall).
In the final dual, Becker faced a tough Watertown-Mayer-Mayer Lutheran squad and had to focus on each match for the 39-19 win.
Becker fell behind 0-7 after the first two matches before Nicolas proved to be the stopper with a 6-1 decision over his opponent.
Kujawa picked up a forfeit win at 126 and just like that Becker was back in front to stay.
