Tuesday night, the Becker Bulldog volleyball team knocked off the Big Lake Hornets, 3-2, in a Mississippi 8 Conference road matchup.
Coach Katie Uittenbogaard described the match as a “back and forth” affair, with the Bulldogs picking up the win in a decisive fifth set to grab the 3-2 victory.
“Big hits tonight came from Courtney Gass and Keira Berger,” Uittenbogaard said.
Storm
The team fell in its season opener last Tuesday, dropping a 0-3 decision to the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm.
Set scores were 21-25, 20-25 and 10-25.
Taylor Hanson led the offensive attack, collecting five kills, while Mel Hubbard was close behind and notched four kills in the match.
Uittenbogaard was pleased with the effort of her girls, noting that the Storm is a Class AAAA team with a veteran lineup who has the potential to earn a trip to state.
While the Bulldogs fell in the match, Coach Bo felt that her team competed well and did a great job of staying positive.
The Bulldogs were in action Thursday night with a match against the Annandale Cardinals.
