Bulldog girls track wins pair

It was another pair of exciting performances for the Becker girls track and field team, as they picked up two victories last week.

Big Lake Meet

Tuesday, the team won a M8 Conference Quad held in Big Lake, scoring 1-9.25 points to second place Zimmerman’s 76.25.

“We had 10 first place finishers at this meet,” Coach Trish Reimer-Kealy said.

Event results, 100 dash: Salayna Allen (second 13.64), Josie Reckelberg (third 13.71) and Leon Morris (sixth 14.18).  200 dash: Josie Reckelberg first (28.58), Kylee Morton third (28.90) and Abby Atwood sixth (29.27).

400 run: Andie Changamire first (PR 63.75), Katelyn Brower second (65.74), Kaylyn Rickard third (66.50) and Alyssa Kinney fourth (68.40).

800 run: Adele Changamire first (2:32.21), Ella McDonald (sixth). 1600: Lexi Rose first (5:52.55).

3200 meter run: Alea Briggs second (honor roll time of 12:19.60), Olivia Babler fifth (13:17.43).

100 hurdles:  Lauren Woelfel second (17.53), Kailey Thompson fifth (18.50) and Raelee Lyon sixth (18.58).

300 hurdles:  Kailey Thompson second (51.88), Raelee Lyon third (54.78) and Khloe Thom sixth (57.55).

“We took a clean sweep of the relays at this meet,” added Reimer-Kealy.

In the 4x100, Lyon, Morton, Morris and Allen ran a 53.20, while in the 4x200, it was Thompson, Morton, Atwood and Reckelberg who ran a 1:52.90.

In the 4x400, the team of Atwood, Sylvia Stoeckel, Brower and Andie Changamire ran 4:31.63, while the 4x800 team was Andie Changamire, Rose, Adele Changamire and Briggs in a time of 10:05.16.

Seventh grader Ella Tschida continues to impress in her first year of track and field, as she won the shot put with a throw of 29’7” and took second in the discus (70’ 3”).

In other field event action, Bella Kuschel was fifth in the high jump (4’6”) and Lexi Rose took sixth (5’6”), while in the Long Jump it was Morton in fourth (15’ 5 1/2”) and Reckelberg in fifth (15’ 2 1/2”).

Woelfel was second in the triple jump (31’ 1 1/2”) and first in the pole vault (10’),  with Sophia Otto fourth(7’).

Zimmerman Meet

Last Thursday, Becker traveled to Zimmerman for another quad meet and scored 86.33  points to down North Branch (73), Zimmerman (71.66) and Spectrum (43).

Tschida had a pair of personal records, winning the shot put with a throw of 31’8” and then placing fifth in the discus.

Rylea Hausmann also placed in the discus (69’3) and Sadie Massey was sixth in the shot put (25’7 1/2), while Sami Leaders placed third (15’1/2) and Morton fourth (14’10) in the long jump.

Reckelberg was third in the triple jump (30’ 7 1/2) and Kinney was sixth (29’ 6), while Kuschel was fifth in high jump (4’ 8).  Woelfel once again was first in the pole vault at 10” and Sophia Otto got a PR of 7’6 to place third to give Becker some nice depth in the field events.

Becker had another fantastic day in the running events, starting off the meet with the 4x800 relay team of Andie Changamire, Brower, Babler and Adele Changamire taking first place with a time of 10:34.25.

“Our girls in the 100 hurdles had a good day,” Reimer-Kealy said, with Woelfel in second, Lyon third and Thompson fourth (18.24 PR).

Reckelberg was second in the 100 with a PR time of 13.46, while the 4x200 relay team ran 1:56.74 for second place (Thompson, Morton, Atwood and Allen).

Adele Changamire placed second in the 1600 with a time of 5:38.82, while the 4x100 relay saw Lyon, Morton, Morris and Allen place third (53.58).

The 400 had: Andie Changamire second (65.15), Reckelberg third (65.54), Rose fourth (66.47) and Brower sixth (67.62).

Thompson got a PR in the 300 hurdles and placed third (50.69), Lyon fourth (54.20) and Khloe Thom sixth (56.37).

Briggs took control of the 800 from the get go and ran a nice time of 2:27.83 for the win, while Reckelberg took fifth in the 200 (27.71) with a PR time.

“Olivia Babler placed second in the 3200 (13:10.32), where she edged out her competitor by 1/100th of a second in a great race,” Reimer-Kealy added. “We finished out the meet running the 4x400 relay in fine fashion.”  Briggs, Rose, Brower and Adele Changamire ran a season best time (4:19.16) to take home the win.

“The kids did a great job and are progressing nicely,” Reimer-Kealy said.
