The Becker girls track team placed second last week (99.2 points) at a Mississippi 8 Triangular in Princeton, with Monticello taking top honors with 138.6 points.

“It was very good for our team to get in some great competition at this meet,” Coach Trish Reimer-Kealy said.  “Monticello has been the state championship team for the past two seasons and they once again have some great and balanced talent.”

Becker’s first place finishes were achieved by Lauren Woelfel in the Pole Vault (10’),  Olivia Babler in the 3200 (13:08.48), the 4x800 relay team and the 4x400 relay team.

“But we had multiple second place finishes to add good points,” Reimer-Kealy noted.

The 4x800 relay team of Andie Changamire, Lexi Rose, Adele Changamire and Alea Briggs ran an outstanding time of 9:50.77 without being pushed by the competition.  

The final individual race had Olivia Babler taking home her first win of the season in the 3200, where she was 12 seconds ahead of her competition. 

Finishing off the running events was the team of Briggs, Rose, Josie Reckelberg and Adele Changamire winning the 4x400 in a season best time of 4:17.45.

In addition to winning the pole vault, Lauren Woelfel took second in the 100 hurdles with her PR time of 17.42. 

Other second place finishes were: Kailey Thompson in the 300 hurdles (50.71), the 4x100 relay (Reckelberg, Kylee Morton, Leon Morris, Salayna Allen - 52.85),  the 4x200 relay (Andie Changamire, Morton, Abby Atwood, Thompson - 1:51.97), Briggs in the 800  (2:27.20),  Adele Changamire in the 400 (61.62), Bella Kuschel in the high jump (4’8), Morton in the long jump (15’4 3/4), and Woelfel in the triple jump (32’1 1/5).

Thursday’s meet in Pierz was canceled due to weather and this week the team had an invitational in Monticello on Tuesday, the John Reimer Invitational in Pillager on Thursday and the Hamline Elite meet on Friday.
