Bulldog boys qualify for state

It was another successful Section track and field meet for the Becker Bulldog boys, as they qualified a number of athletes for the state track meet.

From sprints to distance races and field events to relays, there was a little bit of everything on the state tournament qualifying list once the dust settled.

Carter Reckelberg will be representing the blue and white in four events at state: the 100, 200, long jump and triple jump.  At the Section meet, he eclipsed his old school record in the long jump and topped the 24 foot mark, hitting 24’ 1”, to set the new school record and win the event.

Also making the trip to state will be the 4x800 relay, as they picked up the Section 5AA championship.  Team members are Parker Spindler, Tanner Felton, Evan Hubbard and Brandt Hemmelgarn.

Spindler also picked up a state entry in the 3200 meter run.

Owen Angell continued his truly remarkable track and field career by returning to the big dance in four events: 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, pole vault and high jump.  Angell is no stranger to the state meet, having been there multiple times in multiple events in his career.

The MSHSL state track meet was held this week in STMA.  Look for details and possible state title reports in next week’s Patriot.
