BECKER’S DAWSON BROWN earned a spot in next week’s Section 8AA tournament by playing well in Wednesday’s first round at home. Each player will have a chance to vie to go to state when they travel to bemidji Wednesday for the semi-finals.
BECKER’S ERIK TUNGLAND earned a spot in next week’s Section 8AA tournament by playing well in Wednesday’s first round at home. Each player will have a chance to vie to go to state when they travel to bemidji Wednesday for the semi-finals.

Brown, Tungland, Roemer Shine In Section Tennis Play  

Erik Tungland and Dawson Brown beat the #1 doubles team from STMA in round #1 Wednesday morning at home as part of Section 8AA individual play.

Tungland and Brown went on to lose to the St. Cloud Tech #2 team in round two.  Then, in the third place match, they played STMA's #2 and won. Next week, Tungland and Brown will face the #2 team from the North which is yet to be determined. They will be playing for a chance to go to the state tournament next Wednesday in doubles.
 
Branden Roemer had a great day Wednesday. As a freshman, he beat STMA's #2 player in the tournament, then beat Big Lake's #1 player (#3 Seed), then lost to the #2 player from St. Cloud Tech.  Roemer ended the day losing to the #1 player from STMA, earning Roemer a fourth place finish. 
 
Roemer will be playing for a chance to go to the state tournament in singles on Wednesday as well.
 
Also in round one, Jackson Lefebvre of Becker lost to Taylor Rothstein of STMA, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6 in #1 singles and Austin Hill/Josiah Borst lost to Jake Jungwirth and Andrew Christenson of Buffalo, 1-6, 5-7 in #2 doubles.
