Boys Cc Racers Earn Personal Records

The weather caused a last minute rescheduling of the St. Francis meet for Becker Bulldogs Cross Country teams last week resulting in a few runners not able to attend, but the boys team was ready to go. They accomplished 10 personal records with their race times and had another 10 season bests.

Lukas Karel and Tyson Ricker placed 8th and 11th lead the Bulldogs’ squad, and Ethan Tobako continued to maintain his third runner position within the team.

“The times from the races were fast on the course and nice to see,” said Coach Dustin Weege. “Ethan Tobako has continued to make improvements as he races competitively at each event, but he just missed a top 30 finish by one second.”

Cade Stommes was the next Bulldogs harrier in with his 18:09 time in the 5km race. Senior Captain David Myres stepped up well with a strong race, helping the team in scoring to place in the meet.

“Each racer responded well to prompts along the course and they were certainly racing well to earn better times and places,” said Weege. “Coaches were proud to see each racer going after it, and it was fun to see them cross the finish line with their heads held high.”

The JV race showed some breakout performances as ninth grader Bruce Kraemer shot out at the start and maintained a strong position throughout the race, ending up 12th. Newcomer Mason Becker completed his first cross country race with a nice performance, finishing just three seconds out of the top 20.

Isaac Bauer moved to JV for the race to get a different perspective in racing strategy; earning 23rd place. Keegan Murphy was in next for the team, followed by Ryan Boecker and Luke MacDonald.

Finishing out the JV race for the Bulldogs were Caleb Reckelberg, Brock Ramola and Ben Howe.

The Jr. High team also saw good times in their racing, with four runners finishing in the top 12 and as a team finishing third.

Jase Tobako led the Jr. Dogs in the race with teammate Jace Weiemann close behind. Alex Kinney was next for the team, followed by Denlan Harmoning. Rounding up the Bulldogs was Landon Lahr, Johnathan Drury, Marty Huwe, Thomas Cota and Hank Bjerga.

The Bulldogs Cross Country teams were at Rocori this Thursday, which will be covered in next week’s Citizen-Tribune. Their next race is scheduled for Sept. 26 at Buffalo.
