BL Cheerleaders take first at Farmington

Last weekend, the Big Lake Cheerleading team had an excellent showing at the fourth annual Farmington Hocus Pocus Cheer Championship. Both the Varsity and the Varsity Gameday teams took first place in their respective competitions.

“Both teams gave everything and left it all on the mat!” said Coach Derek Nelson.

The varsity team took first place, followed by second place Dassel-Cokato, third place, Chanhassen, and fourth place Champlin Park.

The varsity game day team was followed by second place Farmington, third place Dassel-Cokato, fourth place Eagan, and fifth place Chanhassen.

This weekend, both teams will be competing in their regional competition. Hosted in Minnetonka, which includes competing for a bid to the national competition, which takes place in February.

Nov. 13, the team will be hosting their Stinger Spirit Competition, where both varsity teams will perform, as will mascot Buzz the Hornet, junior varsity, and the C-Squad team.
