BL Cheer hosts fundraising competition

The Big Lake Cheerleaders held a fundraising competition two weeks ago. Normally, the event brings in a lot of money for the booster club. This year, however, brought some complications.

In total, about 27 teams were expected to attend the event. The majority of the teams dropped out due to COVID-19. Coon Rapids and Chanhassen were the only teams that ended up attending in person. East View participated virtually. In order to stay pandemic-friendly, teams and spectators were asked to leave as soon as their performances were over.

The cheerleaders did their best to continue to raise money in whatever way they could. Guests at the performance were able to sponsor holiday cards created by the team to distribute to residents of assisted living homes around the community. Gess What’s Cookin’ also helped to raise money for the team through a special at their restaurant.
