BL boys soccer gets 2 more wins

The Big Lake boys soccer team won two of its last three games over the past week.

Monday, the Hornets played a tight game and came out on top, 2-0 over Chisago Lakes. Neither team could manage a goal in the first half, but the Hornets got some offense in the second half.

Kofi Gyamerah opened the scoring with an assist from Will Priest for a 1-0 lead, then Gyamerah assisted on a goal by Tamren Acosta to seal the win.

Tyler Huver turned away six shots in goal for Big Lake’s third shutout of the season.

Last Thursday, the Hornets played a back-and-forth game against Becker and lost 2-1.

The Bulldogs scored first and led, 1-0 at the break. Will Priest got Big Lake on the board in the second half with an assist from Gyamerah, but Becker also got a goal and held on for the win. Both goalkeepers had six saves in the game.

Last Tuesday, Big Lake played St. Francis and came away with a 1-0 win. The contest was a stalemate for a good part of the game. But Will Priest broke the ice with an assist from Landon Priest in the second half to give the Hornets the lead.

That was all goalkeeper Huver need to secure the win. He had five saves in the game and picked up the shutout.

The Hornets are 3-4-1 in the conference and 6-6-2 overall. They played Watertown-Mayer Thursday and Mound Westonka Saturday to finish the regular season, results next week.
