Becker’s Bible captures MSHSL clay target title

Last week, the MSHSL hosted its Clay Target State Tournament and Becker trap team member Bradley Bible brought home the state title by shooting a perfect score of 100.  Bible and South St. Paul’s Boone Johnson each broke all 100 targets en route to sharing the state title as co-champions.

A total of 92 individual shooters competed in the field, which also included a team competition in which 40 different teams qualified for the state event.

Bible, Becker’s only Senior, was a steady competition all season according to coach Chris Keeler.  Becker, with 15 total shooters, competed its regular season in the Class A division.  For the regular season and qualifying events, teams are divided into divisions based on the number of shooters on the team.  However, the MSHSL State Championships are a one class affair, meaning students from all across the state compete against one another for the state individual and team titles,

Bible’s perfect score was one of five total posted at the championships, as his co-champion and three shooters competing in the team competition broke all their targets.

“I can’t say enough about how good of a kid Bradley is,” Keeler said.  “He is quiet, humble and a hard worker who enjoys shooting.  He is going to be successful in whatever he decides to do.”

Despite the pressure of the state tournament, Keeler said Bible never wavered in his approach to his rounds.

“He’s calm and smooth and he’s really fun to watch,” Keeler said.  “As the coach, I tell all of our younger shooters to watch him and what he’s doing.”

Congratulations to Bradley on adding his name to the list of Becker Bulldog state champions.
