The Becker Lady bulldog softball team concluded their regular season this past week.
Becker Vs. Princeton
Last Thursday, Becker Bulldog softball traveled to Princeton to take on the Tigers.
This was a very important game for the Bulldogs because it was the conference finish and section seeding.
In the bottom of the first, the Tigers managed to get on the board and take a 1-0 lead.
The score stayed that way until the top of the third when Bulldog player Jackie Neumann scored on a Norah Fitzpatrick double.
The Bulldogs would take the lead in the top of the fifth when Ady Petty singled, stole second, and scored on a Fitzpatrick triple.
Jaimee Cook only allowed three total base runners after the first inning and she went all seven innings and struck out three Tigers. Petty and Lauren Ergen each collected two hits while Fitzpatrick went three-for-four.
The win for the Bulldogs tied them with the third place teams in the Mississippi 8 Conference standings with Chisago Lakes taking first place and St. Francis came in second. There was a three way tie for third between Becker, Princeton, and Monticello. With this win under the Bulldogs belt, they leapt over the Tigers into the fourth seed section 5AAA playoffs.
Becker Vs. Mounds View
Last Friday, the Bulldogs finished their regular season playing Mounds View on Senior and Youth Night.
The Mustangs took the 13-11 win over the Bulldogs.
Coming Up
Becker ended their regular season with a record of 12-8 and a conference mark of 7-6. They will host Princeton, which is the number five seed on Wednesday. The winner will head to Delano to compete against the number one seed, the Tigers. The loser will head to St. Francis to play in an elimination game. The four winning teams will head to Elk River to determine a state tournament entrant. The Bulldogs are hoping to defend their 2023 section title.
