The Becker girls cross country team has been focusing on not only running, but also building a strong team atmosphere for the 2024 season.
The girls team is small but mighty after they lost a significant number of runners to graduation last year. That will not stop them from showing all their potential on the course this year and for many years to come.
The captains this year are Katelyn Brower, Naiya Hanson, and Raelee Lyon.
“These three girls have shown great work ethic and leadership skills,” said new Head Coach Sydnee Henkemeyer.
The captains have been a part of cross country since they were in middle school, so they know how to navigate the course while also supporting the younger girls on the team.
After Trish Kealy retired from the head coach position, Henkemeyer decided to step in and take on the role of head coach. She is ecstatic to work with her assistant coach, Camille Kantor, along with the boys coaches, Dustin Weege and Patrick Drury.
A goal that Henkemeyer has is to continue building on to the success that Trish maintained throughout her years as a head coach.
