On May 17, the Becker girls lacrosse team took on the Big Lake Hornets with the goal of bringing home the victory. The Bulldogs accomplished their goal after beating the Hornets 7-4.
The team was led by the senior leaders Tasha Berthiaume, Haley Duncombe, Jessica Duncombe, Gabby Lundeen, Claire Leither, Kiley Fobbe, and Avery Johnson.
“Ground ball wins played a big factor in the victory,” said Coach Anicca Lundeen.
By the end of the game, Morgan Vee had scored four points, Avery Johnson had scored twice, and Skyler Hanson had scored once.
Throughout the game, eighth grader Hanna Burthwick kept the Hornets from scoring more than four goals. Courtney Gass showed off her strong defensive skills, which won her the game ball at the end of the match.
The following week, the Bulldogs faced off against the Hornets again, but this time on their home turf. For the first round of playoffs, the Bulldogs beat the Hornets 16-4.
Scoring for the Bulldogs included Morgan Vee with five, Skyler Hanson three, Taylor Hanson three, Avery Johnson two, Kiley Fobbe one, Tasha Berthiaume one, and Brynn Koste one.
