Becker girls lacrosse beats Sartell/Sauk Rapids, 16-1

On Thursday May 9, the Becker girls lacrosse traveled to Monticello with the hopes of bringing home a win.

The Bulldog players took to the field, but fell short in the long run with a final score of 5-10.

The loss did not keep the Becker coaches from expressing how proud of the team they were, along with congratulating the girls on the improvements they’ve made throughout the season. Coach Anicca Lundeen commented, “Win or lose, they are learning valuable life skills about the importance of getting along and working together, for each other.”

A real bond has formed between the girls on the team and most of them consider each other family. All of the Bulldogs points were scored by Tasha Berthiaume and Morgan Vee.

Last Tuesday, Buffalo managed to beat the Bulldogs, 14-5. Morgan Vee and Taylor Hanson were the only bulldog players to score during the night.

The following Thursday, the Bulldogs left the Storm in the dust with a final score of 16-1.

The Bulldogs scored the first point of the night and from there, dominated the field with eight players scoring on the Storms goalie. Morgan Vee was the leading scorer of the night with five goals. Following Vee was Skylar Hanson with three goals, Tasha Berthiume/Haley Duncombe with two goals, and four other players pitching in one goal each.

The Bulldogs goal was protected by eighth grader Hanna Burthwick as she saved three shots.

The Bulldogs will have their last regular season game next Tuesday where they will travel to St. Cloud Tech to compete against the Tigers.
