The Becker cross-country teams traveled to Milaca on Monday to compete in the Milaca Early Bird Invitational. Both the boys and the girl’s varsity teams placed seventh in the competition, which included 12 full boy’s teams and one incomplete, and 10 full girl’s teams and five incompletes.
Boys scores were: Mora 52, Little Falls 69, Cambridge Isanti 83, Chisago Lakes 127, Big Lake 134, Annandale 149, Becker 186, Milaca 195, Foley 204, Pierz 235, North Branch 284, Braham 297 and Rush City incomplete.
Senior Luke Lahr was the Becker boy’s top finisher, placing third with a time of 17:29.7 for the 5K, followed by Jonathan Novak (9th grade) 25th, 18:51.4, Caleb Foster (11th grade) 45th, 19:49.7, Dylan Gruba (10th grade) 51st, 20:14.8, Olsen Pancoast (10th grade) 62nd, 20:53.0, and Keith Sorensen (11th grade) 64th 20:56.2.
The JV boy’s team placed 9th in the 5K race. Posted times were: Devin Winter 22:11.3, Nathan Sydow 22:15.9, Kyle Schroeder 22:41.1, Logan Lahr 23:32.9, and Lachlan Lahr 24:56.5.
Junior High boys placed eighth as a team competing in a 2,000 meter race. Aaron Gregory was Becker's first finisher in 8:11.5, followed by Jake Nelson, 8:44.7, Blake Soenneker, 9:16.6, Chris Rothfork, 9:17.1, Brendan Potter 9:20.6, and Jimmy Hines 9:29.0.
Varsity girl’s scores were: Annandale 41, Chisago Lakes 51, Big Lake 95, North Branch 140, Mora 148, Little Falls 153, Becker 158, Pierz 200, Foley 231, and Mille Lacs 250. Braham, Rush City, Hinckley, Milaca and Cambridge-Isanti were incomplete.
Leading the girl’s team was 9th grader Alli Hendrickson, who placed sixth overall running a 16:58.7 in the 4K race. She was followed by senior Sydney Mastey in 24th (17:53.9), Tate Spinner (8th grade), 53rd (19:43.8), Ellie Schwartz (9th grade), 55th (20:06.9), Jada Rositas (10th grade), 48th (20:23.0), Haley Benda (9th grade), 60th (20:24.6) and Renee Tripp (9th grade), 61st (20:25.3).
The JV girl’s team placed fourth. Lexi Dehmer (7th grade) won the race overall in her first CC competition, posting a time of 18:01.7.
Kayden Westin was seventh, (19:28.1), followed by Deedra Lawrence, 25th (21:40.0), Michaela Allen, 41st( 22:50.3) and Jessica Sand, 48th (23:04.0).
The girls junior high was second in the 2,000 meters, led by Makenna Noaeill in eighth-place with a 8:20.3., followed by Victoria Kolbinger, 12th (8:26.6), Ali Garding, 14th (8:28.7), Callie Doucette, 16th (8:29.1), Erika Miner, (9:03.3), Ashley May, (9:06.1), Bryanna Edling, (9:11.5), Laura Pancoast, (9:23.1), Grace Wilhelm, (9:58.3), and Karly Kowalsky, (10:08.8).
