Becker boys CC race at Buffalo

At the Buffalo Heights Golf course, the Becker Bulldog boys cross country JV and Junior High teams raced through the “Big Sledding Hill” at the Buffalo Invitational on Thursday the 19th.

This course was difficult due to the hilly terrain along with the heat and humidity. The varsity boys did not run at that invitational because the very next day they were scheduled to run in St. Paul at the UofM’s Roy Griak Invitational. That didn’t stop the boys varsity from supporting their teammates in Buffalo.

The Junior High team started off the race strong with the 3000m run. Oliver Carlson (12:58), Henry Peckskamp (13:20), Noah Anderson (13:27), Owen Young (15:36), and Brody Zinken (17:22) finished the race for the junior high Bulldogs with a fifth place win.

The JV team took sixth place in the meet after Cooper Pany (22:28), Carson Schuster (23:45), Tanner Schmidt (24:40), and Thomas Cota (25:25) ran the division course.

Roy Griak Invite

On Friday the 20th, the top 10 boy Bulldog runners competed in the UofM’s Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul.

“Griak is a difficult race in general, but it was neat to see our guys performing amidst the highly competitive championship division,” said Coach Dustin Weege.

There were many Bulldog alumni there including Tyson Ricker and Olivia Babler.

The Bullodge finished in 39th place in the event; however, they finished seventh out of the MN Class AA schools.

Alex Swanson was the fastest runner from Becker with a time of 17:16, which put him in 69th place. Parker Spindler, Evan Hubbard, Holden Hubbard, Alex Schermer, Mason Tschida, Weston Denne, Hunter Heitkamp, and Jonathon Drury all raced well together.

Later that same day, the Bulldogs ran the game ball from the southwest toward Willmar all the way to Eppard field for the Homecoming football game. They did it in relays with multiple safety teams in place. They received cheers and encouraging honks along the way. When they reached the field they were rewarded with pizza.
