Becker boys CC comes in 10th

This past Saturday, the Becker boys cross country team took off to the 51st Annual Lion’s Meet of Champions at Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria. There they would compete against 28 teams with hopes of landing in the top spots of the meet.

It was a good turn out with most of the runners and fans enjoying the nice weather.

Eight junior high boys would start the meet off with their 3200m race. The top runners of the night included, Oliver Carlson (13:23), Henry Peckskamp (13:29), and Noah Anderson (13:38). Anderson managed a 23 second time improvement, while Owen Young (15:02) and Brody Zinken (15:38) saw around a 30 second improvement.

Next up to run in the meet was boys varsity. Parker Spindler and Alex Swanson were the top runners of the night with a score of (16:39, 20th) and (16:42, 21st).

The next two bulldog runners to cross the finish line were Tanner Felton (17:14, 48th) and Evan Hubbard (17:28, 62nd). This would be Felton’s first meet of the season after a medical situation kept him out for the beginning of the year. Holden Hubbard and Ale Schermer finished off the Bulldogs’ score with their times of (17:58, 80th) and (18:36, 102nd). Hubbard accomplished a 20 second improvement on his time.

The last team to finish off the meet was junior varsity. The top runner of the night for JV was Mason Tschida with a time of 19:15, which was a one minute and 20 second improvement from his previous races. His teammates commented, “it was a nice way to celebrate his birthday.”

Not too far behind was Jonathan Drury (20:24) and Weston Denne (20:25).

Accomplishments went out to Cooper Pany (21:27) for a 26 second PR and Carson Schuster (22:52) for a three second PR. Aiden Jacobs (24:41) had a 42 second improvement, while Mason Corner had a two minute and 19 second improvement.

Overall, the Varsity team finished in 10th out of the 28 teams, while both JV and Jr. High finished in 14th.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what the Bulldogs can do as we set out to accomplish our goals,” said Coach Dustin Weege.
