Becker Big Lake Hockey

The Becker-Big Lake varsity hockey Eagles competed in an invitational at Richfield, winning two games but losing one Saturday.

The Eagles beat St. Paul Como Park 4-2 Friday. They lost a close game to Richfield, 7-6 Saturday but went on to beat Windom Area 4-1.
 
In the game against Windom Area, the Eagles dominated, scoring twice in the second period while holding their opponent to zero after a scoreless first period.  
 
Ethan Boutin scored first at 4:28 with an assist from Ben Gilchrist. Brandon Christianson also scored at 11:58 with assists from Taylor Giving and Jason Tonneslan.
 
Windom came out strong in the second period, scoring at 1:13; but the Eagles Elliot Darsow scored at 8:30 with assists from Boutin and Zack Vieau, and again a 15:33 with an assist from Alec Green.
 
In their loss to Richfield, both teams were strong with Richfield scoring three goals in the first period before Jason Tonneslan got one in the net with assists from Gilchrist and Green at 9:53. Richfield then came back and scored one more before the period was over.
 
In the second period, Nick Stalpes scored at :52 seconds in with assists from Green and Gilchrist. Richfield scored two more in quick succession before Darsow scored unaided at 4:40. Green scored at 11:03 with assists from Tonneslan and Tristan Gust. Gust closed out the period with another Eagles goal at 13:55 with assists from Grant Vickerman and Nick Stalpes, putting the score at 6-5. 
 
Both teams scored in the third period. Ethan Boutin got the last goal of the game at 16:47 with an assist from Darsow.
 
In the game against St. Paul Como Park, Ben Gilchrist scored the first and only goal of the first period in a power play with an assist from Giving.
 
St. Paul Como Park scored first in the second period to tie the game but Stalpes scored at 3:35 with assists from Tonneslan and gust. Boutin scored at 15:33 in a power play with an assist from Gilchrist. Gust scored at 15:52 in the same power play with an assist from Zack Vieau.
 
The Eagles went scoreless in the third period while St. Paul Como Park scored once to end the game at 4-2.
 
The Eagles face Windom Area again at home Saturday in Princeton at 2 p.m. Tuesday they play an away game at Legacy Christian Academy. They have 11 games left before moving on to section play in February.
