Becker archery packs the city, wins titles

Anyone who was in Becker last weekend already knows that the city was bursting at the seams, as over 1,300 archers and their families came to participate in the Region 3 archery tournament.

The influx of thousands of people packed restaurants and even the gas stations, while the Becker teams once again showed dominance in hitting their targets, placing first in several categories.

“Over 1,300 archers competed in the Bullseye tournament and another 650 archers competed in the 3D tournament,” said program director Scott Brake.  “The Becker Bulldogs Archery teams were very successful in the Region competition.”

The Becker Intermediate and Becker Middle school teams both placed first in the Bullseye competitions, while the High School team came in fourth.

In the 3D event, Becker had a pair of repeat champions, as both the Intermediate and Middle teams again claimed titles.  The High School team finished in eighth place in the event.

With team success also comes individual prowess, as the Bulldogs had a number of top finishers.

The Becker Intermediate team was led in the Bullseye event by Parker Smith’s score of 277, which claimed the top spot.  Reid Hanson finished in second place with 269 points, followed by Ethan Teigland in fourth (265 points).

Smith also captured second in the 3D event, hitting for 265 points.

In the Middle School division, David Eichers claimed the title with 283 points in the Bullseye event, while Mason Lumley’s 274 was good enough for fourth place in the 3D event and TJ Oeding was fifth (273).

This weekend, the team is competing at the Zimmerman Tournament, while the State Tournament is fast approaching and will be held March 22-23 in Rochester.
