Bandits arrest Villains

Becker Bandit manager Cole Hanson has been waiting for an offensive explosion from his team and last Wednesday his hitters delivered in a 14-2 win over the Albertville Villains.

The Bandits slapped the cuffs on the Villains early with 8 runs in the first inning courtesy of 4 hits and 4 walks.

Becker pounded out 13 total hits in the game, while 3 pitchers combined for the win on the mound.

Contact was the name of the game at the plate, as Becker had just three strikeouts in the game, while they also drew 9 walks total off the Villains’ pitching staff.

Matt Krenz led the team at the plate with a 2-for-2 performance that included 3 runs scored and an RBI.  Kreeden Blomquist and Nolan Murphy each also picked up a pair of hits and scored a run for the Bandits, while Krenz’s dad, Kevin, also reached base on a big pinch hit.

Weston Schug drew the start on the mound and went three innings, striking out 4 hitters and giving up just one hit.  Matthew Moe came on in relief and went 2 innings, scattering 3 hits, while Cam Fischer went the final 2 innings and struck out 3 batters.

Wednesday night, the boys faced the Luxemburg Brewers, while Saturday they visit the Clearwater Rivercats.  Sunday, the Bandits host the Clear Lake Lakers in a league matchup.
