OWEN ANGELL achieved his goal of finishing between first and sixth place at three tournaments to capture the coveted MWT belt.

Angell, 10 Others Do Well At Youth Wrestling

Eleven Becker youth wrestlers competed at Gopher State Youth Wrestling tournament, Feb. 7-8 in Monticello.
 
One thousand one hundred wrestlers from 10-12 states compete in the tournament each year in seeded brackets. Several os the local wrestlers were placed in tough brackets. 
 
Bennett Edling placed fourth in 45-lbs., kindergarten bracket. Kaden Nicolas placed third in 54-lb., first through second grade bracket. Owen Angell placed fourth in 62-lb., first through second grade bracket  and Mason Doucette placed sixth in 78-lb., fifth through sixth grade bracket.
 
Angell also finished in third place at the Wisconsin Badgerlands tournament and third place at Hawkeye Nationals in Iowa earlier this season. Angell and the other boys were coached by Ryan Dewall, Curt Suchy, Jayme Doucette and Mike Duncombe.
 
Wrestlers placing first through sixth were awarded custom, event-specific medals at each of the events. Wrestlers that place first through sixth in all three events are awarded the coveted MWT Belt (Angell). 
 
In the 2014-15 season, over 2,400 wrestlers competed in the three events.
