Althoff Named Athlete Of Week

Bemidji State University’s Jessie Althoff of Becker has been named Beaver Pride Athlete of the Week, after recording outstanding athletic performances between Dec. 29 and Jan. 4.

Althoff averaged 12.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game to help the BSU women's basketball team to a 1-1 home weekend Jan 3-4. 
 
After leading the team with 10 points in a loss to Winona State University, she posted a 7-for-13 (53.8%) effort from the field to record 14 points in a win against Upper Iowa University. In the win, she added six rebounds, an assist, steal and a block. In 63 minutes she recorded just two turnovers.
 
Althoff is the team’s third leading scorer, averaging 10.8 points a game, 5.3 rebounds and has 19 assists, six blocked shots and nine steals.
 
This week’s Beaver Pride Athlete of the Week selection marks the first of the season and the fifth of 2013-14 for a member of the BSU women’s basketball team.
 
Morgan Lee of Hayward, WI earned the honor Nov. 20 and Dec. 11, while Kate Warmack of East Grand Forks was selected by the organization Dec. 6 and Dec. 18.
 
The Bemidji State women’s basketball team (7-5, 3-5 NSIC) is on the road Jan. 10-11, as it also travels to Augustana (8-4, 4-4 NSIC) and No. 11 Wayne State (14-1, 7-1 NSIC) for two NSIC tests. BSU and Augustana are set to begin at 6 p.m. Friday, while Saturday’s contest versus the Wildcats is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
