Five of the boys (Qadry Fakhreddine, Tate Weise, Logan Boyer, Evan Epperly and Mason Makarall) were on the Coon Rapids United 19U C2 team and one (Jordan Gruenes) was on the Coon Rapids 16U C1 team.

The 19U C2 team defeated Northfield 1-0 with two minutes remaining in overtime to capture th title.  For Weise and Boyer, this was their second state championship.  Fakhreddine, Epperly  and Makarall joined the team this year.

The 16U C1 team won their MYSA soccer tournament and the team was led by Gruenes, who had an amazing year playing the sport.

Gruenes and his team had a successful season and great state tournament as  they entered the state tournament seeded fourth. They defeated the first seeded — and previously undefeated — Gitchi-Gummi team from Duluth by a score of 3-1.

In the championship game, they played the second-seeded team from Eagan and also beat them 3-1.
