49 wins the BL Chamber Scramble Golf event

The Big Lake Chamber of Commerce held their 6th Annual Chamber Scramble Golf event, this time at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker, Thursday, July 11.

On a beautifully, sunny afternoon, dozens of foursomes mounted their carts and headed for their designated holes to kick off the tournament held as a fundraiser for the Chamber.

Prior to golf, participants meandered to the registration tent to officially sign in and to buy raffle tickets and golf aids for the 18-hole scramble. There was also a nook near the clubhouse where doughnuts, fruits, coffee, juice and bars were made available to energize the golfers.

Each team had a hole assigned to begin their rounds and at 11 a.m. the golfers embarked towards their holes for a shotgun start.

On several holes, sponsors and donors held contests for the golfers to win prizes. Some winners took home extra raffle tickets, some won can coolers, or pens, or sunglasses.

The winning team (Lindquist Team) finished with a 49 (with the benefit of mulligans and other golf aids). They actually were tied with another team but their better score on Hole 10 gave them the title. A few of the holes had long driving contests for men and women as well as longest putts.  Men’s long drive went to Kevin Smith. The closest to the pin for the women was Madelyn Green. The longest putt for the women was Marissa McKee. Closest to the pin for the men was Jamie Kuklok. The long, longest putt for everyone was won by Yvonne Olderbak.

Following the culmination of the 18 holes, the golfers retreated to the dining area upstairs for a meatball and chicken wing meal buffet. Announcements were given and prizes were then handed out before all golfers hit the road for home or headed to the bar area to grab a few more drinks.

All-in-all, the event was a smashing success for the Big Lake Chamber and its membership and sponsors.

Platinum sponsor Old National Bank paid for the appetizer buffet and had a hole spot. The beverage sponsor was Dahlheimer. The breakfast was supplied by Kwik Trip. The drink sponsor was Phillips. Three Sons Hardware hosted the wagon giveaway.
