1st Game Of The Season For Girls Lacrosse Team

The Bulldogs JV and varsity girls lacrosse teams were excited and ready to go as they played their first game of the season Tuesday against Monticello.

Held at Monticello High School, the JV team won 11-4, with three goals each by Adeline Kent and Cami Ramola, two goals by Jackie Yoerg and one goal each for Jazlyn Toedter, Carly Leitold and Elizabeth Buntrock.

“It was a very fun and exciting way to start the season,” said head coach Anicca Lundeen. “The girls really worked together to make good things happen.”

Although the varsity team ultimately lost their match 7 to 5, Lundeen was impressed with their playing.

“Monticello scored four goals in the first seven minutes,” she said. “I think we were a bit tight and nervous. After getting the jitters out and calming ourselves down, we kept them from scoring the remainder of the half, which was another 18 minutes.”

“That’s incredible in lacrosse!”

The team came back strong in the second half of the match. Sophomore Katie Krisko had an impressive showing with 11 saves.

“Mike, Dwight and I couldn’t be prouder of the way the entire team battled and kept the score within reach,” said Lundeen. “I know this team will do great things this season. After watching how they came together on Tuesday, we can’t wait to play Monticello again on Senior Night, May 23 on Eppard Field.”

Hannah Bengston, Sydney Stommes, Anna Ritchie, Maddie Johnson and Alayna Lindquist each scored one goal during the match.
“I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!” said Lundeen.

The JV and varsity girls lacrosse teams next play Buffalo at Becker High School Eppard Field on Tuesday, April 23. Thursday, April 25 they’ll be heading to Rogers High School.
