The Becker 12U Blast girls softball team qualified for Nationals in the Level “C” Suburban Fast Pitch League. They competed in Eagan July 18-21 in the “B” division (teams one level higher than their regular opponents) and lost all five games.
The Blast finished the regular season with a 12-7-1 record.
In the qualification round, the Blast took home fourth place after losing their first game of the tournament, then rattling off five consecutive wins.
The games were on a strict 45 minute time frame due to the weather and they were 90 seconds away from winning their sixth game in a row.
The Nationals tournament in Eagan consisted of 96 teams from Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Canada.
Some of festivities at the tournament included a gift exchange with the first team the Blast played. The Becker girls traded Becker Blast Pins with the girls on the other team and participated in a themed parade.
“While the girls lost all five of their games, they were competitive and had a chance to win in all of the games,” said Coach Jeremy Kringler. “This was one of the funnest teams that I have coached. The girls really gelled as a team as the year went on.”
