Mass of Christian Burial was held, Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Becker for Robert “Bob” W. Weiand, 88 of Becker who passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday. Rev. Michael Kellogg officiated and burial was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Becker. Arrangements were entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Becker.
Robert Wendlin Weiand was born on May 14, 1932 in Blue Grass, ND to Peter M. and Barbara (Schwartz) Weiand. He worked as a farmer, until he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 – 1954. After his service, he continued work on the family farm for two years. On November 14, 1956 he married Elda Link in Beulah, ND. Bob worked in construction as a concrete supervisor and heavy equipment operator for Northern Improvement until his retirement in 1994. Bob was a member of Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Becker and participated in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the West Fargo VFW Arthur P. Jones Post 7564, the Operating Engineers Local 49 and the St. Cloud Eagles Club Aerie 622. Bob enjoyed woodworking and he created so many benches, other furniture items and keepsakes. He was strong willed, but light hearted and liked to joke around. In his later years, he loved being active at the Becker Area Senior Center with his “cronies”.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda (Frank, Jr.) Kasowski of Becker and Debbie Weiand of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Frankie (Tera) Kasowski III, Robert (Kia) Kasowski and Alex Kasowski; great grandchildren, Samuel, Jacob, Elijah & Caleb Kasowski and Bella & Wesley Kasowski; and siblings, Edwin, Frances “Jeanette” Fritz, and Elizabeth “Betty” Ziegler all of Bismarck, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elda on June 10, 2012; brothers, Richard and Leonard; sisters, Annie Heier, Eleanor Borchers, Marcella Schumacher and Dorothy Hoffman; infant sisters, Sophie and Clara; and brother-in-law, Ernest Fritz.
