Mass of Christian Burial was Sat., Dec. 2 at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake for Robert “Bob” L. Iten, age 68, who passed away Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Virgil Helmin will officiate. Visitation was Saturday at the church in Clear Lake.
Robert Iten was born March 10, 1949 in St. Cloud to Lester & Irene (Rausch) Iten. He married Nan Virnig on August 9, 1972 in Little Falls. Bob graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School in 1967 and then from the St. Cloud Technical College with a degree in Architectural Drafting. He worked as a draftsman until establishing Carnelian Supply in Waite Park, a wholesale floral business which he co-owned and operated for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Marcus Catholic Church and did missionary work in Ecuador and Bolivia. Bob enjoyed woodworking, gardening, photography, making soup, riding his Vespa scooter and driving his Subaru WRX. He was a lover of animals and was always taking in stray cats. Bob was funny, knowledgeable, creative and a jack-of-all-trades. He was a friendly, caring person who enjoyed visiting with others.
Bob is survived by his wife, Nan, of Clear Lake; children, Jason (Mary) Iten of Sauk Rapids, Corinne (Troy) Cagle of St. Cloud and Ana Scherr of St. Cloud; brothers, James (Mary Lou) Iten of St. Cloud and Richard Iten of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Evelyn, Jameson, Heidi, Alana, William, Kara and Elizabeth; many nieces and nephews; his cat, Chester; and his dog, Beamer. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Derek Scherr; and brother, Charles Iten.
Memorials are preferred to the Carmen Pampa Education Fund in Bolivia, South America, at CarmenPampaFund.org where Bob helped build the school.
