Richard Allen Bergsten, age 77 of Monticello, passed away Feb. 14, due to Mesothelioma. Richard was born August 20, 1941 to Erland and Hazelle Bergsten. He grew up in Battle Lake, MN. In 1967 he married Linda “The best thing that ever happened in my life.” They built a house and moved to Monticello with their two children in 1973. He became a master electrician and started his own electrical contracting business and kept a hobby farm. In retirement he went to his love of farming and ran a successful bailing business.

 

Richard is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Jeff (Tammy) Bergsten and Missy (Daryl) Gilles; grandchildren, Kyle, Kayla, Emily, Amanda and Jacob; sister, Sharon (Glenn) Arfstrom; and nieces and nephews. He was loved and respected by many other relatives, friends and neighbors.

 

Visitation from 5-7PM on Thursday, February 28th at Hope Evangelical Free Church, 513 West 4th St, Monticello. Celebration of Life on Friday, March 1 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at the church.
