Rev. Charles "Chuck" P. Beronius

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Salem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud for Rev. Charles “Chuck” P. Beronius, age 79, of St. Cloud, who entered into eternal glory on Wednesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Wayne Anderson will officiate. Visitation was from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Chuck was born on March 16, 1935 to Harry and Carrie (von Tell) Beronius in Detroit, MI. He grew up on the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair in Michigan.  He was a graduate from Grosse Pointe High School and continued his education at Capital University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, OH. Chuck married Nancy Thomas in 1956 and was married for 35 years, the couple later divorced. He was a proud and active Naval Reservist who served as a Lt. Commander and Chaplain. Chuck was able to honor his veterans as they came back from Vietnam. He served congregations in Ohio, later serving as Pastor for the ELCA Southwestern Minnesota Synod. In 1986 he began working for the bishop, serving Central and Southern MN as an Interim Pastor. During his career he has worked for more than 37 congregations performing hundreds of baptisms, confirmations, weddings and funerals. Chuck was honored at Gustavus Adolphus for over 50 years of ministry. He was a member of University Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. His faith was in his actions. He traveled to the crossroads of the world, following St. Paul’s path to Greece and Turkey. Chuck loved teaching Luther’s Catechism and leading bible study. He loved sailing, boating and photography. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
 
Chuck is survived by his children’s mother, Nancy; children, Charles “Chip” (Roxanne Moon) Beronius, Jr. of Sartell, Stephen Beronius of St. Cloud, Karin (Scott) Pauly of Becker; sister, Janet Jordan of Mandeville, LA; niece, Julie von Tell; nephew, Randy Buck; grandchildren, Nicholas Plumhoff, Beau Pauly, Morgan Beronius, and Jacquelyn Moon. He is preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Harry Beronius, Jr. and nephew, Woody Buck.
