Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Mon., Oct. 9 at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake for Oreta “Reta” Gray, age 88, of Clear Lake who died Friday at Country Manor Health Care Center in Sartell. Rev. Virgil Helmin will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Monday at the church in Clear Lake. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home of Clear Lake.
Reta was born September 3, 1929 in Robbinsdale to Gordon & Ival (Webb) Schmidt. She married Howard Gray on June 11, 1952 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Hamel. Reta was a homemaker and lived in Clear Lake most all of her life. She was a member of St. Marcus Catholic Church and Christian Women.
Reta enjoyed baking, bowling, golfing, dancing, trips to the casino and attending all sporting events. She and Howie also loved to travel, especially Texas, Arizona and Walt Disney World with family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a strong faith.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Howie of Clear Lake; children, Barb (Mike) Hemmelgarn of St. Cloud, Kathy (Gene) Vanselow of Waite Park, Janet Gray of Edina, Paul (Kathy) Gray of Clear Lake, Gary (Ann) Gray of Clear Lake; brothers, Roger “Pete” Schmidt of Hamel and Gordon (Katie) Schmidt of Loretto; sister, Ival Fleming of Orange County, CA; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marvel Miller and brother, Hugh Schmidt.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
Howard and family would like to thank all the staff at Home Instead, Country Manor and St. Croix Hospice for all the wonderful care given to Reta.
