Margaret Jean Johnson
July 16, 1937 – May 6, 2018
Margaret Jean Johnson, 80, passed away surrounded by her family at the St. Cloud Hospital Sun., May 6.
July 16, 1937, Margaret was born on her family farm in Becker to Reuben and Eileen Olson. Growing up on the farm gave Margaret many fond memories of milking cows and going to school with straw in her hair. She valued the hard work and relationship it fostered with her dad.
After graduating from Becker High School in 1955, Norman and Margaret were married Sept. 21, 1956. The two both have a love of farming that grew into their family business and passion, Norm’s Farm Market.
Margaret and Norman were blessed with four children, Steve, Scott, Shelly, and Shawn. Margaret spent her life taking care of her family. It brought her great joy to spend every day working side by side on the farm with her family. Margaret was an avid fisherman and gardener. Her best days in the boat or on the ice were when she outfished Norman, which was often. Margaret’s green thumb was visible to all who visited the farm. Every year she planted hundreds of gladiolas, sunflowers, zinnias, and obviously vegetables.
Margaret was blessed to have eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She instilled her love of farming within all of them. Every grandchild spent summers at the farm and learned valuable lessons of hard work and perseverance. But most importantly Margaret taught her family to rely on one another and that there was no better place to be than together.
Margaret is survived by her husband Norman, children, Steve (Jean) Johnson, Scott (Sue) Johnson, Shelly (Stephen) Lorincz, Shawn (Sue) Johnson; eight grandchildren, Jean Johnson, Sara (Chad) Peterson, Stacey Johnson, Sam Johnson, Matt Johnson, Heather Lorincz, Brigid Lorincz, Dana Johnson; and one great-granddaughter, Harper Peterson. She is also survived by her siblings, Shirley Di and Russell Olson, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Eileen Olson.
Funeral service was Mon., May 14, at the Becker Baptist Church, 11951 Hancock St, Becker.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the St. Cloud Hospital for their attention and care to Margaret in her final days.
