Marianne Vera Sonsteby was born January 1, 1940 in Mayer to Walter and Marcella (Zabel) Koepsell. She graduated from Maple Lake High School. At the age of 17, she was united in marriage to John Thomas Sonsteby on April 23, 1957. They owned a barber and beauty shop out of their home where John was the barber and Marianne was the beautician. They also owned numerous bars over the years, including Turtle Bay Club in South Haven, Goose Bar in Watson, Powerhouse Bar in Clarkfield and Top Shots in Buffalo. Marianne enjoyed fishing, golfing, water fowl hunting, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She had a green thumb and loved her flowers. Marianne was an excellent cook with the ability to gather people together around her food. She loved to be with others and had a way of making others laugh.
She is survived by her two children, Monika Sonsteby and Bradley Sonsteby, both of Annandale; grandchildren, Kory Nyren of Rice and Bailey (Joel) Mansk of Clearwater; great-grandchildren, Avah Ree Nyren and Rowen Mansk; sisters and brother, Joyce (Hughitt) Sonsteby of Hasty, Alice Larson of Annandale and Jim (Jeannie) Keopsell of Park Rapids. Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marcella Koepsell; and sister, Burneal Wiemer.
Pastor Zach Pryor will officiate at the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
