Private family services were held for Mabel Margaret Rohling, age 93, of Sauk Rapids who died peacefully on Sun., Nov. 26 at St. Benedict’s Care Center in St. Cloud. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sauk Rapids. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.
Mabel was born April 7, 1924 in Fairhaven to Lawrence and Lizzie (Gutknecht) Dammann. In 1946 she married Carl Rohling and they had seven children. When the children were all in school, Mabel began working at the St. Cloud Hospital in various positions until finally becoming an x-ray transporter, a job she enjoyed very much because she could move around and she often knew the patients.
Mabel was an excellent cook, seamstress, and gardener. She had a large vegetable garden and many flower beds and could make the most beautiful flower arrangements. Mabel enjoyed reading, especially the daily newspaper, listening to music, both country and popular Jazz, dancing, playing cards with her many long-time friends, going out to dinner, and family gatherings. She very much loved watching her birds and always made sure they had enough seed and suet. She filled scrapbooks with pictures of birds and also other animals, things she remembered from her childhood, cartoons, and celebrities. Mabel could be witty and funny and she laughed easily.
Mabel is survived by her six children all living in the St. Cloud area, Diane (Bill) Winter, Mark Rohling, Mary (Alan) Orth, Kathy (Mark) Frantesl, Julie (Steve) Meyer, Lisa (John) Lutgen; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Frances (Elmer) Kuseske of Buffalo, MN and her sister, Dorothy (Orville) Mielke of Sauk Rapids, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David Rohling; her former husband, Carl Rohling; and her brother, Lenous Dammann.
