Lyle McConnell, age 87, of Big Lake, died Friday, Sept. 21.  

 

Lyle Archie McConnell was born December 18, 1930, to Archie and Meta (Glock) McConnell at home in Blakeley Township, Scott County. Lyle grew up on the family farm where he was born. He graduated from Belle Plain high school.  

 

Lyle was a Machinist Mate in the Navy for four years 1951-1954, sailing on the USS Oglethorpe.

 

September 14, 1957 Lyle was married to Elveramae Rolf in Minneapolis. 

 

Lyle was employed by Northern States power Company (now Xcel Energy) from 1961 until his retirement December 1995 as a Lead Machinist.

He consistently found an opportunity to talk about his children.  In his retirement years, Lyle talked about his cars and your cars.  He always enjoyed a good meal, his favorite being pan fish.

 

Lyle is survived by his lovely wife of 61 years, Elveramae of Big Lake; Children Vicki Mitchell of Elk River; Dan (Laurie) McConnell of Becker; Douglas (Suzanne) McConnell of Grantsburg, WI; Cindi McConnell (Dave Fischer) of Elk River; Jeff (Dena) McConnell of Stacy; Connie McConnell of Elk River;  Amy (Joe) Krambeer of Zimmerman; Tracy (Curtis) Kraul of Wellington, FL; son in law Barry McLouth of Big Lake; 25 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daughter Wendy McLouth, Son in law Scott Mitchell, sisters, LaVerne Malz, Marian Stoppelmann, infant sister Irene, brothers Ervin, Everett, Arnold,  and Oliver, stepfather Oscar Erdman, stepbrother Deloss Erdman. 

 

Funeral Service was Fri., Sept. 28 at 11 a.m., visitation was at Central Lutheran Church, Elk River.  Burial was in Big Lake Cemetery.
