Larry Merle Hesley, of Big Lake, passed away Tuesday, August 15th. Larry was born August 3, 1942 in Clear Lake. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eleanor Hesley, and brothers, Richard, Gerald, and Arnold (Ole).
He is survived by his wife Linda (Nelson) of Becker. Sisters: Marilyn Olson, Arnelda Alexander (Leo), Patricia Cox, and Linda Newland (Butch). Children: Tim Hesley (Sandy), Wendy Hesley (Mark) and Lonaya Buscko. Dog: Leonard. Larry had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Larry graduated from Big Lake High School in 1960. Following graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served two years in Korea. After returning from Korea, Larry swore he’d never leave Big Lake again, and he never did! Upon his return, he entered into the school bus transportation business with his father, Harold Hesley. He went on to form Hesley Bus Company, and served the Big Lake school district for over 35 years. He was a member of the Big Lake American Legion and VFW, and lifelong member of the community.
Larry enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing horseshoes, and westerns. He was an avid fan of John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and Gunsmoke.
He will be very much missed by his family, friends, and the many that he employed over the years.
A Celebration of Life for Larry will be held Sept. 30., from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the Tim Hesley residence: 16903 211th Ave., Big Lake. There will be a short memorial service, lunch, and many stories and memories to share.
