Janice M. Christensen

Janice M. Christensen, age 82, of Maple Lake, died Wed., Oct. 24 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids as a result of complications with pneumonia.
 
Visitation was Thurs., Nov. 1 and Friday morning, Nov. 2, both at Bethany Bible Church in Big Lake. Funeral Services were held Fri., Nov. 2 at Bethany Bible Church in Big Lake, Pastor Mark Snider officiated. A luncheon followed the service. Burial took place at Maple Lake Community Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Samaritan's Purse.
 
Janice Mae Christensen was born November 27, 1935 at Andrews Hospital in Minneapolis to Ellsworth and Gertrude (Fresvold) Erickson. She grew up in Columbia Heights and graduated from Columbia Heights High School. On July 31, 1955, Janice was united in marriage to Kenneth Christensen at First Lutheran Church in Columbia Heights. They lived in Columbia Heights, Fargo, ND, Brooklyn Center, Champlin, and in 1999 they moved to rural Maple Lake. Janice worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at Golden Valley Clinic for 12 years, retiring in 1998. Giving to others and serving them was a large part of her life including delivering meals on wheels, helping friends and family with preparing meals, doing laundry and cleaning. Janice enjoyed reading, singing, taking photos, baking cookies, fishing, and shopping. She cherished her time with the Word, especially in Bible study. Janice loved the time she shared with family.
 
She is survived by her husband Kenneth; children Cheryl (Mark) Orluck of Buffalo, Alan Christensen of Zimmerman, Karen (Bob) Rice of Buffalo and Andy (Jen) Christensen of Silver Creek; grandchildren Peter, Beth, Eric, Amy, Andrew, Nathan, Daniel, Cory, Luke, Carson, Jackson and Marcus; great grandchildren Paige, Jamie, Bella, Elijah, Noah, Liam, Juliette, Lorelei and Grady and Owen; and step-brother Harvey (Carolyn) Bergstrom of Fargo, ND.
 
The casket bearers will be Janice's grandsons. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
