Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tues., Jan. 28, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake for Ione Dorothy Forner, age 86, of Clear Lake who passed away Fri., Jan. 24, 2014 at her home. Rev. George Sagissore III officiated and burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Clear Lake.
Ione was born in Tyler, ND Aug. 28, 1927 to George and Marie (Schuldt) Gelle. She married Clifford Forner Feb. 14, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.. Ione worked as a teacher at country schools and as a teachers aid at Clearview Elementary in Clear Lake retiring in 1981. She was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake where she was active in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Laborers for Christ for 17 years. Ione was also a member of the East Side VFW Post 4847 Auxiliary. She will be remembered as a wonderful person who always thought of others, had a contagious smile, loved music and singing, but above all loved her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Ione is survived by her husband Cliff of Clear Lake; children, Diane (Gary) Doering of Clear Lake, Lee (Julie) Forner of Monticello, Tom (Cheryl) Forner of Clear Lake, Jim (Cindy) Forner of McGregor and Vicki Forner of Washougal, WA; sister, Carol Peterson of Raymondville, TX; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Ione was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ervin and Emrahe Gelle; sisters, Mickey Whitcomb, Ann Marie Gelle and great-grandson, James Forner.
Memorials are preferred to Prince of Peace Lutheran School or Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.
